Day 10: Ceprano - Stazione - Codete - Casamarciano - Valmontone 42 Miles (437 Total)

We mostly stuck to Google Maps today, with a few corrections from Organic Maps. Some of the roads were pretty obscure, but as we near Rome, we see more cars, homes in better condition, and businesses. I did not realize that we were gently climbing, mostly up-rollers, so I feel a bit better about my sluggishness.

Modern Valmontone is known for Valmontone Outlet, a shopping center built like an American town, with squares, buildings, streets, a fake train-station, etc. Near this complex is the Rainbow Magic Land amusement park. We rode past both.

This is Sunday and many businesses are closed. Catholicism rules, but we did not see anyone going to or leaving services. We did not find an open coffee shop or restaurant, so we stopped at the edge of Valmontone and bought excellent cannelloni for lunch.

Most days I tell lodging owners that we will arrive between 3 and 4 pm and have been fairly accurate. Today we arrived at 2 pm, checked in, and I finally cought up with my blog posts. I've noted earlier that my primary purpose is to help me remember the trip, and getting behind for just a few days blurs the details.

Tomorrow we ride to Marco's home, NE of Rome, about 45 miles, mostly flat or downhill after climbing out of Valmontone. The best route on google lists 25% on bike paths. We shall see.

Rainbow Sweet Rooms. Operated by a Turkish family, they live in the back of the property, have a restaurant in the front, and a number of rooms above and behind the restaurant. It sounds odd but is really quite nice.
57 Via San Giovanni Molino, 00038 Valmontone, Italy

Repeated hilltop cities on both sides of the Sacco River Valley. Keep reminding ourselves that we are not going to ride up to check them out.

Outstanding in their field. Sorry, but that occurred to me as we rode by cattle, a donkey, and a cow, standing in a field. I noticed that this farmer lacked a sheep dog.

Our final region.  Italy is divided into 20 Regions and every Region is divided into Provinces. There are 110 provinces in Italy.
